The Gulf Coast - 2003
One of the best trips, Left early (May) to beat the heat,
first stop in Joshua Tree NP then spent a couple of days in Organ Pipe Cactus NP.
East to Texas and south to Presidio at the Mexican border then followed
the Rio Grande to Big Bend NP.
Corpus Christie to the Padre Islands where we had a flat tire on Memorial day weekend!
We did manage to find a tire shop in Corpus Christie that was opened.
Took the fairy from Mustang island to Galveston island. Great campground just
by the beach, water was nice and warm compared to our Pacific coast in Santa Cruz.
On to Lousiana where we spent a few days in New Orleans and did a boat trip in the Bayous.
Headed north on the Natches Trace, the Kudzu creates amazing shapes to the scenerie.
East across Mississipi and Alabama into Georgia where we spent a few days with family.
Nancy was real proud to show off her new HD Soft Tail.
Rain on the way back true Tennessie, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas Panhandle.
The skies finally cleared up in Tucumcari New Mexico.
Headed south to White Sands and west to Silver City where we spent a few days
riding in the Gilla Mountains then across to Arizona's White Mountains
where we were delayed due to a forest fire. They eventually let us true
with an escort truck in front of us, we could see some low flames just a
few hundred feet from the road.
Down the Coronado trail (hw191) to Clifton then north west to Camp Verde and
eventually to more familiar grounds on old Route 66 between Seligman
and Kingman.
